Below is an overview of some campus activities:

  • Sharp Viewpoint Speaker Series fosters important and challenging dialogues and explores speech as a tool for understanding and navigating differences in a democratic society.
  • The Jepson Leadership Forum, one of the signature programs of the Jepson School of Leadership Studies, will broadly explore the theme of polarization with its 2024-2025 series.
  • The University will bring scholar Danielle Allen to campus this fall for a speaking event co-sponsored by the Jepson Leadership Forum, Gary L. McDowell Institute, the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement, and the School of Arts & Sciences.
  • The University is also continuing to work to identify ways to convey the importance of free expression and open, thoughtful inquiry early on in the student experience and ensure students have opportunities to develop and practice skills that contribute to civic preparedness – such as dialogue across difference – throughout their time at Richmond.
  • University of Richmond will be sending faculty members to the College Presidents for Civic Preparedness Faculty Institute.
